The informative session, scheduled for Monday, November 24, at 7:00 PM, will take place at the Jerome Mintz Cultural Center, also known as the House of Culture. Dña. Pérez Gutiérrez, proprietor of Bevet Veterinary Center, will present key insights into preventative healthcare for pets, emphasizing how these measures safeguard animals against serious illnesses and health complications.

Why Prevention is Paramount for Pet Health

Recent guidelines from the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) underscore that vaccination is a cornerstone of comprehensive preventative health care for both dogs and cats. These vaccines are designed to bolster the immune system, equipping pets to effectively combat potentially life-threatening infectious diseases. Equally crucial is regular deworming, a practice that not only protects animals from debilitating parasitic infestations but also serves as a public health measure by preventing zoonotic transmission—diseases that can pass from animals to humans.

The forthcoming talk is part of the "Escuela de Salud" (Health School) initiative, a project spearheaded by the local Health Delegation. With support from Farmacia Mate, this program aims to provide residents with accessible and crucial information on health and wellness topics.

"Caring for our pets is a responsibility we owe them,"

the organizers stated, highlighting the importance of staying informed about their health needs. "Vaccines and deworming are two of the fundamental pillars in maintaining the health of our pets."

An Opportunity for Dialogue

Following Dña. Pérez Gutiérrez's presentation, attendees will have the chance to engage in an open debate. This interactive segment is designed to address specific questions, concerns, and suggestions from pet owners, making the session highly relevant to individual needs.

Globally, the human-animal bond is increasingly recognized as integral to overall well-being. In Spain alone, millions of households include dogs and cats, many of whom are considered family members. This evolving understanding is reflected in legislation, such as the Animal Welfare Law, which reinforces the ethical imperative to provide animals with the respect and care they deserve, including essential veterinary services like vaccinations and parasite control.

The Escuela de Salud initiative exemplifies a community's commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring that all family members, including the dört-legged ones, lead healthy and happy lives.
