How to Vote During The Voice Playoffs’ December 8, 2025 Episode
‘The Voice’ Nears Finale as Coaches and Fans Decide Season 28’s Top Six
The competition is heating up on NBC’s singing competition The Voice, as coaches Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan prepare to select their finalists during tonight’s episode. The final Playoff round will determine the last six artists vying for the coveted title, with a unique blend of coach selection and fan voting shaping the outcome. The Live Finale promises a showdown between the chosen few, building on the momentum of strong performances from teams led by Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé.
A New Dynamic: Pop Stars Take the Coaching Helm
This season marks a shift in the coaching panel, with pop icons Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan bringing their distinct perspectives to the show. Horan, known for his boy band roots with One Direction and successful solo career, offers a keen ear for vocal technique and song arrangement. Snoop Dogg, a hip-hop legend and media mogul, brings a different energy, focusing on stage presence and artistic interpretation. Their contrasting styles have created a dynamic environment for the aspiring singers, pushing them to explore diverse musical avenues.
The addition of these coaches reflects a broader trend in reality television, where producers are increasingly seeking personalities who resonate with younger audiences. According to a 2023 report by Nielsen, viewership among adults 18-34 has increased by 15% for singing competition shows featuring pop and hip-hop artists as judges. This demographic shift underscores the importance of attracting contemporary stars to maintain relevance in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
How the Finalists Will Be Chosen: A Two-Pronged Approach
Tonight’s episode follows a format that combines the expertise of the coaches with the power of the audience. After performances from Yoshihanaa, Kirbi, Mindy Miller, Aiden Ross, Ava Nat, Toni Lorene, DEK of Hearts, and Ralph Edwards, Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan will each choose one artist to advance directly to the Live Finale. This mirrors the selections already made by Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé, who have tapped Aubrey Nicole and Jazz McKenzie, respectively.
However, the process doesn’t end there. The remaining six artists will be put to a public vote, with The Voice fans having the final say in determining the last finalist. Voting will open immediately following the episode and close at 7 a.m. ET on December 9. Fans can cast their votes through the official The Voice app or on the NBC website at NBC.com/VoiceVote. Each registered email address is eligible for one vote, with the option to change selections until the voting portal closes.
Bublé and McEntire Already Making Their Mark
The selections made by veteran coaches Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé have already generated buzz. McEntire praised Aubrey Nicole’s unexpected sultry rendition of Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet,” highlighting her versatility as an artist. Bublé, meanwhile, was effusive in his praise for Jazz McKenzie’s gospel-infused take on Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing,” comparing her vocal talent to legends like Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, and Celine Dion.
“Jazz reminds me of the greatest singers who ever lived. [Barbra] Streisand, [Aretha] Franklin, Celine [Dion]… without a doubt, the best vocalist I’ve ever heard on this show,” Bublé remarked.
These early selections demonstrate the coaches’ commitment to identifying not only technically skilled singers but also artists with a unique stage presence and the ability to connect with audiences on an emotional level.
The Global Appeal of Singing Competitions and the Rise of Digital Voting
Singing competitions like The Voice have become a global phenomenon, captivating audiences with their blend of talent, drama, and emotional storytelling. The format, originating with Pop Idol in the early 2000s, has been adapted in numerous countries, fostering a sense of national pride and showcasing local musical talent.
The integration of digital voting has been a key factor in the success of these shows, allowing viewers to actively participate in the outcome and fostering a deeper connection with the contestants. According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), global internet penetration reached 67% in 2023, providing a vast audience base for online voting platforms. This accessibility has democratized the voting process, empowering fans to support their favorite artists regardless of geographical location.
Tonight’s episode of The Voice promises a thrilling conclusion to the Playoff round, setting the stage for a captivating Live Finale. Viewers can tune in to NBC at 9/8c or stream the episode next day on Peacock to witness the coaches’ final selections and participate in the fan vote that will determine the last finalist.
