Submit Legal Request / Takedown Policy
This Legal Request & Takedown Policy describes how individuals, organizations, and representatives may submit legally grounded requests regarding published content on Worldys News, including defamation claims, privacy concerns, copyright notices, and court-mandated takedowns.
1. Scope of Legal Requests
We accept formal legal requests only when they concern one of the following:
- Alleged defamation or reputational harm
- Publication of private or legally protected information
- Copyright infringement claims (DMCA or equivalent)
- Court orders or enforceable legal directives
Editorial disagreements, opinion disputes, or non-legal objections must be submitted instead through our Editorial Appeals process.
2. Submission Requirements
All legal requests must be submitted in writing to:
Requests must include:
- Full name and legal authority of the requester
- Direct URL of the content in question
- Exact text or media excerpt being challenged
- Legal basis for the claim (statute, court order, or documented harm)
- Evidence supporting the request (attachments or citations)
3. Evaluation and Response
All legal submissions are reviewed by senior editors and, where appropriate, external legal counsel. A response will be issued only after the claim is validated. Submission alone does not guarantee removal, revision, or acknowledgement.
4. Defamation and Harm Claims
Claims of defamation or reputational damage must demonstrate falsity or materially misleading presentation. Claims based solely on negative but accurate reporting will not result in takedown.
5. Copyright and Intellectual Property (DMCA / Global Equivalents)
If you believe copyrighted material has been used without authorization, submit a notice containing the required elements under DMCA or equivalent jurisdiction. Verified claims may lead to removal or replacement of infringing elements.
6. Court Orders and Legal Mandates
We comply with valid, enforceable court orders only. Informal threats, non-binding letters, and unfiled claims do not constitute legal compulsion.
7. Abuse of Process
Attempts to misuse legal threats to censor accurate journalism, silence reporting, or influence editorial coverage will be rejected without review. Unsupported or abusive submissions may be archived without response.
8. Relationship to Other Policies
This policy operates alongside the Corrections & Updates Policy, Editorial Guidelines, and Ownership & Funding Disclosure. Legal removal requests are handled separately from editorial appeals and public corrections.
