Sourcing & Attribution Policy
This Sourcing & Attribution Policy sets the rules governing how information is obtained, verified, and credited in all journalism published by Worldys News. These standards apply to staff reporters, editors, analysts, and external contributors.
1. Source Reliability and Selection
Worldys News relies only on sources that meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Primary documents (court filings, legislation, contracts, regulatory records)
- Official statements from verifiable institutions or authorized spokespeople
- Eyewitness accounts with corroboration
- Reputable international news agencies (Reuters, AP, BBC, etc.)
- Subject-matter experts with verifiable credentials
Anonymous social media posts, unverified leaks, and hearsay are not publishable without independent verification.
2. Attribution Requirements
Facts derived from external sources must be clearly attributed within the text using natural-language citations such as:
- “According to court filings…”
- “The finance ministry stated…”
- “Reuters reported that…”
Unnamed claims are not permitted without editorial justification.
3. Anonymous Sources
Anonymity is granted only when:
- The source faces credible risk of harm or legal retaliation
- The information is of public interest and cannot be obtained otherwise
- The identity and credibility of the source are verified internally
Anonymous assertions must be supported by corroborating evidence before publication.
4. Prohibited Sourcing Practices
The following are strictly not allowed:
- Using AI-generated “facts” without verification
- Publishing rumor or speculation as fact
- Accepting payment or influence in exchange for sourcing
- Quoting unverifiable “industry insiders” without review
5. Use of Third-Party Reporting
When citing work from other news organizations, Worldys News:
- Verifies claims independently when possible
- Rewrites in original language — no copying of text
- Credits the original source explicitly when material is derived
6. Document and Data Handling
Leaked or sensitive documents are authenticated before reference. Statistical or financial claims must be traceable to public filings, audited data, or recognized institutions.
7. Post-Publication Re-Verification
If new evidence contradicts previously published sourcing, the article will be reviewed under the Corrections & Updates Policy. Unreliable or withdrawn sources trigger formal editorial reassessment.
