Corrections & Updates Policy
Worldys News is committed to accuracy, transparency, and accountability. When new information emerges or an editorial error is identified, we update or correct our reporting in a timely and responsible manner. This policy establishes how and when changes are made to previously published content.
1. Distinction Between Updates and Corrections
Worldys News uses two clearly defined labels when altering published material:
- Update — applied when new facts or developments are added to an existing story without altering the accuracy of previously published material.
- Correction — applied when a substantive factual, numerical, contextual, or attribution error is identified in a published article and must be fixed.
2. Placement and Transparency
Corrections and updates are noted within the body of the original article, at the foot of the updated section or at the end of the text, clearly labeled and timestamped. We do not remove or rewrite history of publication without disclosure. Silent edits are not permitted except for minor grammar or formatting fixes that do not affect meaning.
3. Triggering a Correction
A correction may be issued when:
- A fact, date, figure, quotation, attribution, or claim is proven inaccurate by verifiable evidence.
- An individual or organization demonstrates that a statement concerning them is materially incorrect.
- An internal audit under our Fact-Checking Policy identifies an error after publication.
4. Responsibility for Review
All requests for corrections are reviewed by an assigning editor and, when necessary, escalated to the Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor. Editorial judgment determines whether a correction, an update, or no action is warranted. Contact information for editorial inquiries is available on our Contact Page.
5. Retractions and Exceptional Cases
In rare cases where an article is fundamentally flawed or published in violation of our standards, the piece may be retracted and replaced with a retraction notice. Retractions are approved only by senior leadership and logged internally in accordance with our Editorial Guidelines & Ethics Policy.
6. Reader Participation
Readers who believe a published story contains an error may request review by emailing corrections@worldys.news with supporting documentation. Verified errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
